Week 7 - Random word / image association

This week, mr Radzi Bedu teach us about random words and image association. Random words is simple and effective technique. I can say that random words can be used to stimulate open and divergent thinking and seek creative new ideas. Random word can be used to reignite creative thinking when people are running out of idea.
Random words works in particular by helping people to think and generate ideas. Random words pushes people out of their current thinking root and use the principle of forced association to make people think in new ways and create different ideas.

Random Association exercise.

The exercise that Mr. Radzi bedu gave was to create a scary image or object that will instill dear among people through out the age. the random words is kitten. It has to be simple and easy to understand or to deliver something that people not easily to get confused.

in a nutshell, random words helps us a lot in generating different kind of ideas and improve our creative thinking method.

Week 6 - Juxtaposition

This week, my lecturer taught about Juxtaposition.
- Juxtaposition means contrast or similarity are shown through comparison. Many creative processes rely on juxtaposition. By juxtaposing two objects or words next to each other, human brain will automatically associate or transfer meaning. Usually ‘turning’ something familiar to something less familiar or vice-versa.

these are few exercises that Mr Radzi Bedu gave us.

First exercise.

In this exercise, we have to choose a number from 00 to 99 for three times. I choose 21, 01 and 88 for the first step. Second step is that we have to match it from left to right. what I get is lighting head,  second is fly head and third is oil wind.

Second exercise.

In this second exercise, we have to make a sentences according to the words that we have matched in the first exercise. Above are the sentences that I have made. After making a sentences, we have to draw it according to the sentences.

Third exercise.

In this exercise, what we have to do is to combine the words into one word. Then we have to draw it. Above are the working that I have done.

Fourth exercise.

How Mergers Go Wrong.
In this exercise mr Radzi Bedu gave us a task to create an animal based on two different categories that is african animals and farm animals which we have to combine them and make it not possible to live. I choose rabbit and piranha.

In this exercise, first, I have to create a passage or writing that describe the concept of 'Love' about 'chili'. Secondly, about 'man and women'. Third is about 'man or women'.

Week 5 - Mortar & Pestle

hello all! this week exercise is to create something that is beyond the normal usage of mortar and pestle..

First is Music.

Here I drew the mortar as the headphone. As u can see the pestle is the music player.

Second is Communication.

As u can see in the drawing, I drew the mortar and pestle as a communication medium. The mortar as the speaker and pestle as the mic.

Third is weapon.

In this picture, I create the mortar and pestle as a weapon. The mortar is the shield to protect from enemy and the pestle is to attack the enemy. lol!

Personalities.

This week my lecturer gave us a little time for us to describe about our group partner personalities. The picture above shows about my personalities what my partner,Azlan, thinks about me. :D

Week 4 - Creativity, Novelty, Innovation & Invention

A week ago my lecturer who taught us Creative Studies subject give us a task where we have to search the definition of creativity, novelty,  innovation and invention.

Creativity:
to me creativity is where we turn something new and imaginative ideas into reality. it has two processes, first we think and then we produce. Creativity also requires passion and commitment. if you have imaginative ideas but do not take any action on them you are only being imaginative but not creative.

Trust that little voice in your head that says "wouldn't it be interesting if.." And then do it. ~Duane Michals, "More Joy of Photography

Novelty:

Novelty is the quality of being new and fresh and interesting to public. it is something that people create which has never been heard anywhere in the world before.

"Always something new, seldom something good.- German Proverb

Innovation:
Innovation where we produce and implement ideas. Its a complex process of re-invent product, idea and concept to the society for commercialize. The process that involve novelty, validty, increment and realization. The society will benefit by innovation, not from the invention alone.

Art begins in imitation and ends in innovation. Mason Cooley

Invention:
Invention is something that we create. It involves high mental activity to introduce a whole new idea, product and concept. It is a creation which results from study and experimentation. It is also involve creative power or ability which is skills.

But I'm an adventurer. I like invention, I like discovery. Karlheinz Stockhausen

Bill Gates.

Creativity of Bill Gates can be seen when he turn his imaginative idea of creating a Microsoft software into reality. His product is novelty as no one has ever created computer software before him. I can say that he is the father of all computers. He is the world wide leader in software. To me, he is very genius. Bill Gates is an innovative person, he re-invent product from the large computer to a small computer with 8 inch floppy disk system which can easily use by the society. Above all, Bill Gates is an individualist, and he does what he pleases regardless of customs and norms. His environment and life circumstances may change frequently and abruptly. Until now his invention is widely use by people in the world.

Founder of Google.

These two have the similarity of being a computer scientist and industrialist who are the founders of Google Inc. They both are technology innovator which invents the world largest internet company, based on it's search engine and online advertising technology. using their creative mind, they combine their ideas and test their new search engine design in the web. Not since Gutenberg there is new invention empowered individuals and transformed access to information, as profoundly as Google. This shows the novelty of their creation as no one has ever created such effective and efficient search engine as they did.
